Vintage 1983 Fender Precision Bass (Fullerton era) 3-Tone Sunburst Rosewood neck – 8.4 Lbs
Up for sale, here’s a rare 1983 American made Fender Precision Bass in 3-Tone Sunburst with its Black Tolex hard case and tag, in Very Good+ condition.
8.4 Lbs, which is lightweight. It’s one of those really awesome P-Bass in original 3-Tone Sunburst finish, very resonant made in the Fullerton factory (right when they started with the Reissues). The neck is one of a kind, super slim and wide “C” (1.78″ nut width with 0.790″ Neck thickness at 1st fret and .890″ neck thickness at 12th fret) that reminds to any good old ’59-’64 pre-CBS neck profile. With the exception of the Tortoise Shell pick guard and the black pickup covers (Sunburst models used to come with White pick guard and matching pickup covers, the Bass remains all original, including its actual pickup, electronics (pats dated ’80) and all hardware. Neck stamp date is September 1983.
These series are the transition in between the latest 70’s that used to be very heavy) into the later American Standards, but with some reminiscence front the Vintage Reissues (AV’62 and AV’57) very noticeable specifically on the neck. Being transitional years for Fenders, it’s also common to find some instruments from this era coming with plastic molded cases, as well as the traditional Black tolex case wit red velvet interior, and this is one of those.
The bass is great overall condition with some obvious signs of minimal surface level signs of usage, little dings and scratches from being played +40 years, however the bass plays amazingly well and there’s no issues whatsoever. The bass has been professionally set with low action, with a fresh set of D’addario round wounds.
The bass hips out professionally packed and fully insured from LA. Local pickup is also available at no cost.
